NCC Competitors Featured in Local Media Coverage

Local media outlets welcomed this year’s National Craft Championships (NCC) by covering several individual competitors trips to NCC. Newspapers from Alabama, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Texas published stories on competitors in the Welding-Structural, Sheet Metal, HVAC, and Electrical: Commercial-Industrial competitions.

ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter Expands its Training Facilities

The ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter broke ground April 11 in St. Rose, La. on Phase Two of their training campus master plan expansion, which includes an additional 18,000 square feet of classrooms, laboratories and welding booths for its apprenticeship and craft training program, as well as its safety and management education program.

Disappointing GDP Report Shows Nonresidential Fixed Investment Declines 2.1 Percent

Nonresidential fixed investment decreased 2.1 percent and residential fixed investment fell 5.7 percent during the first quarter, according to an April 30 release by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Overall, real gross domestic product (GDP) expanded just 0.1 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rate) during the first quarter of 2014 following a 2.6 percent increase in the fourth quarter of last year.

Montgomery College Wins 2014 Student Chapter of the Year Award

The ABC student chapter at Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., was named the 2014 Student Chapter of the Year, which recognized them for their outstanding and extensive programming, community service and involvement with ABC during the past year. The student chapter will be honored at the Careers in Construction Awards ceremony May 2 in Birmingham, Ala.

Director of Chapter Development

The Director of Chapter Development will provide education, training and development opportunities for ABC chapter staff and leadership. Maintain processes to measure successes/weaknesses of ABC chapters. See that customer group goals and objectives are executed. Maintain department budget. Supervise senior manager of chapter development; membership development manager; leadership and governance manager and staff coordinator.

Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Controller. The Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for the preparation of journal entries and financial reports for ABC (a 501(c)6 trade association) and ABC Services Corporation (a for-profit subsidiary of ABC which houses a magazine). In addition, the Accounting Manager will have full responsibility for the accounting of the Political Action Committee (PAC). The Accounting Manager will also support the preparation of the financial statements for the Trimmer Construction Education Foundation (a 501(c)3 foundation related to education and training) and the Construction Legal Rights Foundation (a 501(c)6 foundation that supports legal cases and advocacy efforts impacting ABC’s members). The Accounting Manager will provide high-level technical support to the Controller and entire department through accounting expertise and expertise in software packages used (Solomon and FRx). The Accounting Manager will directly supervise the AR Accountant and the Finance Assistant.

Web Developer II

The Web Developer II will be responsible for a wide range of online programs and is expected to conceptualize, design, develop and maintain online content for ABC National and it's chapters. The Web Developer II will design and implement search engine optimization strategies, improve overall site traffic/performance, and collaborate with developers, graphic designers and content providers to facilitate optimal site usability. The candidate will solely be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the current ABC content management system and SQL back end. Candidate must have excellent time management and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities within expected timelines.
