Construction Industry Unemployment Drops to 14.7 Percent in March

The construction industry unemployment rate fell to 14.7 percent in March, down from 15.7 percent in February, according to the April 5 employment report by the U.S. Department of Labor. The nation added 18,000 new construction jobs in March. Year-over-year, the construction industry workforce has expanded by 2.9 percent, or 162,000 jobs.

Construction Industry Unemployment Rate Dips to 15.7 Percent in February

The construction industry added 48,000 jobs in February—the largest monthly increase since March 2007. Year over year, the industry has added 140,000 jobs, or 2.5 percent, according to the March 8 employment report by the U.S. Labor Department. The construction industry unemployment rate declined to 15.7 percent in February, down from 16.1 percent the previous month and down from 17.1 percent from one year ago.
