Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced that it has awarded National Diversity Excellence Awards to five member companies: Hensel Phelps, Wu & Associates Inc., Diversity Construction Group, Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo and United Rentals Inc. Representatives from each company received the award on March 1 at ABC’s 27th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards during the association’s Workforce Week ‘17 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The ABC National Diversity Excellence Awards program recognizes members that display exemplary diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs.
Awards were presented in five categories:
- General Contractor Over $33 million: Hensel Phelps, Greeley, Colo.
- General Contractor Under $33 million: Wu & Associates, Inc., Mount Laurel, N.J.
- Small and Emerging Contractor: Diversity Construction Group, Cheshire, Conn.
- Associate: Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo, Cerritos, Calif.
- Supplier: United Rentals, Inc., Stamford, Conn.
